His best-selling novels did spectacularly well around the globe, both in English and dozens of other languages. So did David Gemmell, who during his lifetime was the biggest seller of heroic fantasy in the UK. The organisers believe it’s an important genre as well as a broad one. Now in their seventh year, the awards, open to readers’ votes, recognise and promote writers and artists in the fantasy field.
